Quote of the day
Thomas Fleming of Chronicles Magazine is one of those awesome curmudgeons who dislikes pretty much everyone. He's so conservative that he only grudgingly supported Reagan, so you can imagine how thrilled he is about a potential Obama victory.
No, wait, you probably can't imagine.
[Obama] is an enemy of anything good that has ever been done in this country or this civilization, and when he is elected, I hope that all those Silicon Valley libertarians who supported him will live to see their property confiscated and their kids sent to reeducation camps.... Where is Willie Horton when you need him?
Sliced bread? Obama hates it.
The number zero? Yep. Hates it.
Electric lights? You don't even want to know what he said about them.

amazing
that is absolutely amazing. i guess that's what happens when you keep taking step after step in one direction, in your own imagination, without thinking. I can imagine the train of thought going something like this:
"If A is true, then B is probably true. And if B is true, I'm just certain C and D are true too."
Awesome by association
Heh. Funny thing is, I was about to argue that it's just the sort of hyperbole we hear too much of and that while the statement is reprehensible, the sentiment is sadly common on both sides of our polarized political landscape.
Then I started googling on Fleming and the rest of the Chronicles editorial board. It's all Neo-Confederates who think that the United states "died" when the South was defeated, etc. etc. I should know better than to take a publication seriously if it has Pat Buchanan on its masthead...
